Jenny & Dave
New Market, Virginia | May 2017
Who knew that Southern Virginia would make such a beautiful location for a wedding? I did! That’s why I initially was so excited to receive a message from Jenny. Then Jenny and I got to talking and I learned about the interests that she and her fiance Dave shared…their love for family, history, their home and their pups. The excitement only grew from there 🙂
The home they share was once where Dave lived with his family and the ring that he proposed with once belonged to his grandmother! Their home is very important to them. It’s a place where they love to spend time together and it is also where they host many get together’s. They even have a yearly pig roast! It made a lot of sense that they wanted to have their reception at their home. They also decided that they wanted to have their ceremony on Dave’s fathers land in New Market which is not too far from Shenandoah. It has such a gorgeous view and is very open so it made for a perfect spot to have their ceremony!
It seemed so perfect that they incorporated so many personal touches to their wedding day. Dave built the arch that they were married under! Jenny decided that she wanted to use the mason jars that her grandmother used as part of her decorations which was such a sweet touch! Speaking of sweet touches, in lieu of a traditional wedding ring, Dave would carry with him a handmade handkerchief with their initials and their wedding date <3
Their ceremony was emotional yet light hearted. You could really sense the emotions Dave must have been experiencing when he laid eyes on Jenny walking down the aisle and Jenny was holding back tears while they held hands under the arch and spoke their vows. Their at home reception was so pretty! In fact, their house is amazing! It’s very different from any other home I’ve seen with a super pretty backyard and all the touches they have been putting on their home is so unique. It definitely is an awesome place to have get togethers.
These two have created their own traditions along their way together and I think that is a very special element of creating a life together.
I absolutely loved the opportunity to not only document Jenny and Dave’s wedding day but to spend the day with them and getting to know them. They both were so easy to feel comfortable with and took great care of me (especially as I was 7 months pregnant at the time) and I loved meeting their family and friends. They were so sweet and their friends were hilarious!
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hooper! I wish you both the best!
